Wardrobe Wednesday: Toddler Edition

Having two girls is dangerous on my wallet.  There are just so many endless options out there clothing-wise and it seems like I discover a new one that I like even more than the last each day.  As I’m unpacking Hadley’s old clothes for Harper I’m realizing that my taste has changed a lot in terms of how I like to dress them.  I thought I’d do a clothing round-up of some of my new favorite clothing addictions (and some tried & true ones, too).

I’ll start with accessories.  We’re in the south, so obviously the girls have to have a bow on their heads!  My two favorite places to buy bows are:

The Hairbow Company – this is where Harper’s monthly onesies came from, as well as most of the bows that the girls wear.  Harper and Patty’s sweet girl Dahlia are their monthly onesie models!

and

Polkadot Posies

You can find good unique headbands on etsy, too!

My newest clothing addiction is Persnickety.  I’ll warn you now: it’s PRICEY.  Like more than I would spend on myself.  But, as seasons change you can catch a good sale, and I found some resale groups on facebook which make it a little more affordable.  They just released their first fall line for the year (which I will not be purchasing because their new stuff is out of my price range, but I’ll keep and eye out for it on sale or resale!) and it’s adorable!  I love that the designs can coordinate for both younger and older girls.  The first picture with the red bell pants is an outfit I’m drooling over.  I want it in every size for both of my girls!

I mean, really?  Cuteness overload.

Another favorite of mine is Kelly’s Kids.  They have the best quality basics that last through wash after wash.  They have a bunch of items that literally come out of the wash looking brand new – ZERO wash wear and no ironing!

I LOVE this little denim dress – you could wear it with ANYTHING!

Kelly’s Kids does monogramming on a lot of their outfits, but I also have a couple favorite shops for monogrammed and appliqued tops/outfits.  My friend Hether is the owner of Ditsy Daisy Boutique.  She’s in the process of setting up her website, but in the meantime you can find her on Facebook.   These are a couple outfits/tops I’ve gotten from her…

As far as every day play clothes go, pretty much everything else I buy comes from either Target, Old Navy, Children’s Place or H&M.  I also just discovered Naartjie and like their stuff for more unique, affordable basics!

Hope that helps answer any outstanding questions!  It surprises me how often I get emails asking where I get Hadley’s clothes because they’re usually just Old Navy or H&M!  I LOVE to discover new clothes for the girls (despite Matt’s pleading with me to stop), so please share some of your favorites if I didn’t mention them!

Fashionable Fridays: Baby Edition

Did you like how I made that title all official-like?  As if this is something I do every Friday and have loads of followers waiting to see what “edition” I’ll come out with next?

Anyway, when the seasons change, I love getting a few new pieces to spruce up my wardrobe.  One of the GREAT perks of a growing baby girl is that I simply can’t re-use things from last season because they don’t fit!  I thought I’d share some of my baby favorites for Spring!

First of all, I know I am so behind the times with this, but I just discovered Kelly’s Kids.  I haven’t actually ordered anything, but oh.my.gosh do I want to.

I want pretty much everything from the Island Blue collection

image

And the Coral Reef Collection

image

And the Buckets of Fun Collection

imageimage

And ohmygosh these bubbles are so cute!

image

image

And I want every “basic” in the whole entire catalog.  AND, you can monogram just about everything they sell!  Seriously – put an H on it all and ship me the whole shebang!

I am also drooling over these Matilda Jane items…

How adorable is this Lucy Baby Bubble?

Unfortunately, none of those are exactly in our budget, so here are a few more budget-friendly items I’ve seen recently!

I LOVE this little flutter-sleeve top with bloomers

image

And this little striped sundress is on sale for $10!

image

And last, this little bowtie romper would be so cute with a monogram on the chest!

Ok, that’s all I’ve got!  Hopefully this was more fun to read than a day-by-day update of Hadley’s illnesses! Winking smile

Help a Girl Out

You may have heard me mention a time or two around here that my sister is getting married in March (wahoo!).  We are super excited to be welcoming Eric into our family, and I can’t wait to finally have a brother!  But, onto the important matters… what shoes do I wear with my bridesmaid dress??

Here is my dress… It’s Alfred Sung in dupioni silk and is in the color “Daisy” although it looks a little more lemony in real life.

image

The only real stipulation we’ve been given for choosing shoes is that they should be a “neutral” color.  No flashy red heels for this girl! (too bad, I really did have my heart set on some 5 inch, shiny, lipstick red heels! *sarcasm*).

Here’s what I’ve found so far…

Those also come in a gray/silver color…

image

Now that I look at the champagne color with the dress on the same page, I’m thinking those don’t go very well?

We’ll most likely be switching to cowboy boots for the reception, so I really don’t want to spend a lot of money for a pair of shoes that I may just wear for an hour or so.  Thanks to the hubby, I have these babies to wear later that night…

Don’t you just LOVE the turquoise on the inside?  Me, too. :)

Okay, so that’s actually all I’ve found so far.  See?  I seriously need help.  Do you like those wedges?  What color would you choose?  Can you help me find some other (reasonably priced) pairs that would go with a lemony yellow dress to wear in March (oh and the ceremony is outside, so no stiletto heels, please).

EDIT: I should add that the groomsmen will be wearing gray suits, which is why I had originally thought a light gray shoe might be pretty. Okay, that's all! Thanks for your help!

A Post About Shoes

How’s that for a creative title?  I know, some days I just ooze originality.  So anyway, I mentioned in a previous post that I have a hard time finding shoes I like.  I like boots, flip flops and ballet flats, and that’s about it.  Not to say that I don’t own any other styles of shoes, but I just don’t ever wear them.  I am totally open to other suggestions if anyone has them!

Given my limited taste, when I saw TOMS was coming out with ballet flats, I was…intrigued.  I don’t own a pair of the regular TOMS because, to be honest, I didn’t think they were that cute (no offense if you have them – I mean to say that they weren’t cute ON ME – other people can totally pull them off).  The ballet flats, however, are loads of cute in my opinion!

I LOVE the rose linen ones – but can I justify $79 for a pair? (The mr. is shaking his head no…)

And these?  Burlap?  SO cute!

Have you ordered some?  What do you think?

Fashionable Friday

With all of the festivities approaching for my sister’s upcoming wedding, I’ve been on the lookout for some cute new dresses and I thought I’d share some of my favorite finds recently.  The mr. is never thrilled to find me scrolling through pages of dresses on my computer in the evening, but I thought y’all might appreciate my hard work.  =)

I’ve pinned most of these on Pinterest, so I’ll just go ahead and use those links…

First up – the Mod Tunic dress.  This is so different than anything I own, but at 5’9” (maybe 5’8” – am I the only one who doesn’t really know how tall I am?) this style might be too short for me?

Next up – the In the Loop dress.  I love this coral color and think it’s perfect for springtime!

I am kind of obsessed with one-shoulder dresses lately.  I love that this one from ModCloth has a sleeve, but again, might be too short for me?

Aaannnd, in scrolling through my boards to find these pins I realized I pin the above dress, and one just like it, twice.  Maybe that means I should just buy it and try it out already?

I love this next one, but I’ve always been kind of afraid of wearing that bold of a print because I’m so tall…

Again, love this coral color and the cut-out detail on this dress is really beautiful!

That’s all I’ve got for now – happy Friday y’all!  Have a great weekend!

Pinterest

I’m sure you’ve all heard of Pinterest by now, but on the off chance that some of you haven’t, I wanted to spread the word!  I am pretty obsessed with it already – it’s such a great way to get inspiration for anything!  Picture all of your bookmarks/favorite pages in one place with perfect little thumbnail pictures to represent them!  And then imagine a glimpse into your favorite people’s bookmarks and a way to search for things by category!

Here’s a screenshot of one of my boards (For the home…).  It’s where I save inspiration for home decorating & organization.

pinterest1

Here’s a glimpse at my main page with my different “boards” that I’ve made.  You can follow people who have similar taste and they can follow you so you can share ideas!

pinterest2

It’s super addicting, so if you don’t have time in your day for anything else, I’d highly recommend staying away!  However, if you want to try it out, let me know and I’ll be glad to send an invite your way to join!

If you’re already on Pinterest, leave me a comment with your name on there so I can follow you!

Wardrobe Update

With Hadley continuing to grow inside my belly, I have had to make a few updates to my wardrobe.  Thanks to my sweet in-laws who gave me a gift card, I was able to get a few pieces that I really love!  My packages came in the mail the other day, so I thought I’d share my new favorites!

imageimage

imageimage

We also have a wedding coming up at the end of next month that I needed something a little fancier for since it’s black tie.  Black tie and maternity do not exactly go together, but hopefully with accessories I can make this dress work…

image I have a denim skirt and pair of maternity jeans already that I have been living in.  I really think that all clothes should be this comfortable… I am seriously going to have a hard time going back to regular clothing after the “comfort belly” tops that my jeans and skirt have!

P.S.  I know I haven’t done a belly picture update… I’ll get one up this week!

I'm drooling over...

For some reason - every time I've been on the internet lately, this Cole Haan internet ad has been following me around. Having worked in advertising for a few years, I know this isn't a coincidence, but it still freaks me out a little... and I'll admit, I've clicked through more than once (I know, I'm only making it worse). Too bad the internet ad peeps can't also give me the $450 it would take to get me this bag.
