I'm up! I'm up!

I found out that our alarm works last night. Matt had a friend offer him an extra ticket to the Rangers game, so last night was one of my first times to be in the house alone at night. I knew Matt wouldn't be getting home until at least 11, which is WAY past my bedtime, so around 9:30 or so, I locked up all the doors, set the alarm, and got in bed to watch TV until I fell asleep. The next thing I knew, I was startled awake by a heart attack (which I quickly realized was caused by the alarm in our house screaming at the top of it's lungs). Unfortunately, I didn't spring to action like one would hope in that type of situation. I just sat up, frozen, listening to the alarm for what felt like 10 minutes. After what was, in real time, more like 15 seconds, I realized that Matt had yet to come home, then heard the beeps of him entering in our code and shutting off the alarm. Apparently, I was not listening to the alarm installation guy when he said there are two different ways to set the alarm, and one of them should only be used when no one else is coming home. Oops. Well at least we know the alarm works the way it should!

Returning to the blogging world

I have been pretty bad about blogging lately - sorry! Just a quick post to update you on what's been going on since the last post!

First of all - we are all moved in to our new house! There are still boxes everywhere, so I only have a couple pictures, but here it is so far! There's really not anything on the walls yet - more pictures will come as we get more settled in.

My new rug for our entryway

The furniture from our apartment looks tiny in here - we have a new sectional coming the end of this month... can't wait!
Hooray for more cabinet space! And our awesome fridge that my parents got for us!

Moving in has obviously taken up most of our time lately - there is still so much to do! Today we bought some trees for our backyard (the builder fully landscaped the front yard, but only put in sod in the backyard) and my sweet husband has spent all afternoon putting those in!

We also celebrated my birthday last week on Thursday - my kids at school were so sweet and sang Happy Birthday to me multiple times throughout the day :) (Any excuse for a preschooler to break out in song is a good one) My co-teacher made cupcakes and decorated the classroom for me and I even got a few presents from the sweet families at school! I felt so blessed. To top all of that off, I got to come home to a bouquet of flowers and a spa gift card and spent a great night eating delicious tex-mex with my sweet husband! What a great birthday!

This weekend we got to hang out with my sister-in-law and her new beau since they were in town to find her an apartment! We're excited to have you in Dallas soon Kelly! Congrats on nursing school!

Now that we've finally got our internet set up at the house, I will do my best to update regularly again!
