Ch Ch Ch Changes

If you’ve been around for awhile, you might notice that the blog has a new look today (and if you haven’t been around awhile – hola!).  Or, if you’re like me and you haven’t popped over from google reader in awhile, today would be a good day to do so!  Let me know what you think!

It’s really not TOO different, but I was wanting some fresh colors.  It seriously feels like spring already here, so I’m in spring-time decorating mode!  Not to mention the fact that re-doing our master bedroom has me wanting to make updates all over the place! 

And, because no one likes a post without a picture, here’s one of our little punkin'… she has quite the sense of style, huh?  I left that sweater on the floor near her play area and left the room for a minute.  When I came back, she had wrapped it around her shoulders like a scarf.  She’s a trend-setter, this one.

Blog Design… again

I just finished my sister’s blog design and wanted to make sure I blogged about it before I forgot.  She is currently in the middle of blogging about her recent mission trip to the Dominican Republic and I HIGHLY recommend you take the time to click over there and read a post or two, maybe even follow her blog so you can catch the rest of her updates.  I’m not just saying that because she’s my sister, I really do think it would be worth your time!  I think I have yet to read a post from her trip that hasn’t made me tear up a little…

On a slightly related note, I am trying to think of a good name for my blog designs.  I am still learning, but it might be nice to have a little design business on the side eventually, so I’d like to make a little tag to put on the blogs I design.  Just a simple “Designed by…” but I can’t decide on a name!  Although I think I may be blogging solely for my family as I rarely get any comments, I thought I’d throw the question out there to the blogging world to see if anyone out there has any suggestions?

Creative Juices

Staying home and finally feeling better (despite the fact that I have yet to get that SURGE of energy everyone talks about in the second trimester) has started to get my creativity flowing again.  I thought I’d post a couple projects I’ve been working on lately! 
First up, I made a sign for a friend’s classroom (it’s actually for the teacher I student taught with last spring).  She had been wanting something with the school letters (SCMS) and colors.  We went to Hobby Lobby together and bought a canvas, some scrapbook paper and some letters and here’s the final product!

Amy and I also went with another friend, Melissa, to a paint-your-own-pottery place here.  I decided to make a platter with our name on it (especially with football season coming up, you can never have too many platters!)  I really wasn’t sure how well this would turn out, but overall, I’m pretty pleased with it!  The fleur-de-lis on the sides are actual little add-ons that I painted brown and then had them glue on prior to baking it all together.  This won’t be the final resting place for the platter, but it was the most accessible holder I had to get a picture of it. :)

Blog Design

This is a little overdue, but I wanted to post about a blog design I did a little while back for the sister of a friend from high school.  This was the first design I had done for someone that I’ve never met, and she wanted something totally different than what I had done before, so I was a little nervous.  The blog is a food blog – Megan has just graduated from culinary school and has a great story if you read her “All about Megan” page.

Re-design

You might notice something a little different around here.  I decided it was time for a change again.  Sorry for the lack of posting - we have been so busy lately. Matt's parents were in town with us over the weekend and we went to the fair and the TX/OU game.  Now that things are back to normal, I will be back soon with an update!  Had to at least update the look of the blog for now :) What do you think?

Just a quick post to show y’all the most recent blog design I made.  I have been friends with Jill and her husband Grant since college and they just recently had a precious baby boy and wanted their blog design to reflect that.  You can click on the picture to be taken to her blog to check it out!

More blog design

I just realized that, although I finished the design for my friend Allison awhile ago, I never blogged about it. So, here it is! She asked for blues/greens and earth tones and gave me the picture and text to use and I went from there! I created custom tags for her sidebar titles too which I hadn't done before, so that was a fun experiment! :) Thanks for trusting me Allison!

Seeing as how it happened a little quicker than I imagined. Anyways, to follow up on my last post - my friend Liz got her blog up! I just wanted show y'all the blog design I created for her and share the link to her blog! She told me she didn't want to use an actual photo, and gave me a few color guidelines - and I ran with it from there. I think it turned out really cute! AND -- (way to bury the lead here) the most exciting part of it all is the actual reason why she is starting this blog -- drum roll please.... she is expecting! She and her husband Brian will be welcoming a new little one into the world sometime in February! Congratulations Liz!
