Halloween Recap
This was Hadley’s first Halloween to trick-or-treat and although she got shy every time the door was opened, she had SUCH a blast! Morgan and Brynn came over to trick-or-treat with us and the girls were literally giggling the entire night together! It was such a joy to watch them have so much fun together.
Unfortunately, Matt got stuck in horrible traffic on his way home, but we used the opportunity to take some pictures of the girls while we were waiting for him to get home!
Picture overload warning!
The girls held hands the entire night and just skipped down the sidewalk giggling and squealing. We only went to maybe 10 houses total and then turned around to head home, but it was the perfect amount for these two. And for comparison’s sake… Hadley’s two Halloweens… :)

Home Sweet Home
Alright, I’ve been promising pictures of our new house for awhile now and I figured I’d better follow through! There are SO so many projects I have on my list for this house, which is part of the delay. But, I figured I would show y’all the “before” pictures with the seller’s stuff, and then as I make progress in different rooms, I’ll post that. Deal? Good.
So, without further adieu, here it is!
What you see when you first walk in:
Dining room (You can go ahead and assume that the first “to do” on each room’s list is PAINT! The trim, shutters and doors are all tan/cream instead of white and it’s driving me crazy already!)
The living room (again, all of these pictures have the seller’s things)
The kitchen – I love the space, but have so many plans for this room, too! I want to finish the hardwoods through here, paint the cabinets a creamy white, paint the walls/trim, install hardware on the cabinets and change the dining room chandelier and window coverings! Not a long list or anything, huh?
This bedroom is downstairs and will be Harper’s nursery initially. (We’ll move her upstairs once the girls are on similar schedules.)
This is the bedroom that is Hadley’s – looks pretty different already!
The playroom – one of my favorite rooms! AND, it has french doors so I can just close it off when it’s a mess! ;)
The master. As much as I love our new house, I can’t tell you how sad I was to leave the room that I had JUST redone and LOVED so much.
So there it is! We’re slowly making progress making it our own, so hopefully I’ll have some update pictures for you soon! At the very least, I’ll share my plans for Harper’s nursery soon!

Pumpkin Patch
If you’re on facebook, you’ve probably already seen these pictures, but I wanted to blog about our trip to the Pumpkin Patch a couple weeks ago before Thanksgiving is here!
We were supposed to go with a playgroup, but wound up having to spend that morning getting a new car battery, so we wound up going with our good friends Morgan & Brynn the next week!
{We are SO happy they have moved home from China – the girls are 5 months apart, and Morgan and I are literally days apart in our due dates with our second little girls! Such a blessing to have friends in the same stage of life.}
Quick flashback – here is one of the first pictures we ever took of Hadley and Brynn together…
And here they are now…
The girls had so much fun at the pumpkin patch this year. They have a petting zoo, a hayride (which we skipped this year since it was apparently field trip day and there were TONS of elementary school kids there) and lots of pumpkins/photo ops!
“Hey! He took my cup, momma!”
Kisses for the goat!
This picture cracked me up – she went up to the goat and said “high dive!” (When he didn’t comply and give her a high-five, she changed to a fist-bump!)
Picking out her pumpkin!
Hadley is 22 Months And Now it’s November?
I’m blaming the fact that another month has passed since I’ve blogged on the weather. It simply doesn’t feel like it could be November outside as it’s been in the upper 80s!
I thought I’d try something a little different for a quick Hadley update since she turned 22 months old yesterday. I took some pictures of her in the greenbelt across the street the other day and this is literally the best picture of her out of over 50! I put some of the basics of what she’s up to on the picture for a quick snapshot of this age!
She is doing really well at her Mother’s Day Out program. She goes twice a week and although it runs from 9-2, I’ve actually started picking her up at noon right before they put them down for naps. School days were becoming days that we both were dreading because she wasn’t getting enough of a nap at school and then it was a loooong time to go before bedtime. She was only getting maybe an hour long nap at school and at this age, it’s just not enough sleep for her. Picking her up at noon, coming home to play for a bit and then going down for nap is working MUCH better for us! The first day I tried it, she napped for 3 hours! Pretty sure that means she was needing some more sleep. Other than picking her up before naptime, she has adjusted so well – walks right in with no tears and her teachers say that she is so sweet and compliant all day! Makes my momma-heart so happy!
She’s adjusted to our new house (I promise pictures will come soon!) pretty well, too. At this point, I’m not sure she even has much of a memory of our old house! We’ve met some neighbors and she waves (from afar) and yells hi to all the “friends” on the trail across the street. {As long as they don’t come too close – then she runs and hides behind my legs.}
Overall, this is such a fun age as she communicates more and more with us and we get to know more of her personality! We do spend some days in time out quite a bit, but even those days are going by too quickly! Hard to believe she will be two in just two months!
cue the tears…
