I found out that our alarm works last night. Matt had a friend offer him an extra ticket to the Rangers game, so last night was one of my first times to be in the house alone at night. I knew Matt wouldn't be getting home until at least 11, which is WAY past my bedtime, so around 9:30 or so, I locked up all the doors, set the alarm, and got in bed to watch TV until I fell asleep. The next thing I knew, I was startled awake by a heart attack (which I quickly realized was caused by the alarm in our house screaming at the top of it's lungs). Unfortunately, I didn't spring to action like one would hope in that type of situation. I just sat up, frozen, listening to the alarm for what felt like 10 minutes. After what was, in real time, more like 15 seconds, I realized that Matt had yet to come home, then heard the beeps of him entering in our code and shutting off the alarm. Apparently, I was not listening to the alarm installation guy when he said there are two different ways to set the alarm, and one of them should only be used when no one else is coming home. Oops. Well at least we know the alarm works the way it should!
