Show Us Your Life: Master Bedrooms

It’s another SUYL Friday on Kelly’s Blog, and this week it’s Master Bedrooms.  Besides our “catch-all” room, this is the room in the house that has probably had the least attention so far.  I feel like I have SO much decorating to do in here still, I almost don’t even want to show it on the house tour – I want to paint, get new lamps (ideally silver or glass ball lamps) for the nightstands, get a mirror for over the tall dresser and get more pictures up on the wall across from our bed (which isn’t even pictured).  The only wall you can’t see is the wall that is to your right when you walk through the doors – it just has our wide dresser with a TV on it and is nothing much to see.

This is what you see when you walk in… I really thought the silk duvet from Pottery Barn was perfect when I bought it.  With a baby on the way, I’m realizing that it probably won’t be so “perfect” for much longer.  The candle holders are also from Pottery Barn, as is our bedroom furniture.  The curtains are silk and hand embroidered from Ethan Allen – I found them on clearance b/c they were display curtains! Notice the lovely parrot sitting on my husband’s nightstand.  I don’t know where he got it – he had it long before I ever met him – but I don’t know that I’ll ever get him to part with it.  That’s his decorating touch in the bedroom. :) Those double doors lead into our master bathroom, and if you could see to the left of the tall dresser, you’d see the doors leading out into the hallway. I haven’t painted in here yet because it’s such a huge room.  The ceilings are really high, have crown molding all the way around– except for here around the bay window, where the ceiling is vaulted a little bit.  It just looks so daunting to imagine painting it, but one of these days we’ll either just bite the bullet and pay someone or roll up our sleeves and get to work.   IMG_1763That’s all I’ve got for now, thanks for looking!  Next week’s room is the dining room… looking forward to getting some good inspiration from other dining rooms for paint color!

Happy Fall Y’all!

Although the weather outside doesn’t reflect it, the fact is that fall has officially arrived!  I’m going to ignore the weather outside and celebrate fall anyways.  Yesterday I had beef stew in the crock pot all day and I can’t wait to get to the store to pick up some pumpkin puree to do some baking!  I did this last year too, but in honor of my favorite season, I thought I’d share some of my favorite things about fall again…

:: Pumpkin Spice Lattes – I’ve already had one this season and cannot get enough! (although I ordered a decaf for baby) ::

::Fall foliage and mums::

::Pumpkins – of course!::pumpkinpatch

And, because my fall Pottery Barn catalog arrived yesterday, a little decorating inspiration for your home…

Who wouldn’t want to go trick-or-treating at this house? (Image from BHG)

This would be a cute way to fill an empty flower pot or bird bath – you could paint anything from your address to last name or even “Boo!”  ss_100096013

Show us your life: Our FAMILY room

Kelly at Kelly’s Korner blog is hosting a “show us your life” link-up again and I thought I’d participate to try and get some posts in about something other than baby stuff.   This week it’s a “Show Us Where You Live: Living Room” tour and if you want to find some inspiration for your own living room, you can see all of the other links on Kelly’s blog.  She did this last year too, but I missed the tour, so I’m excited to participate this year. :)
Without further adieu, here is our family room:
Here it is right before we moved in.  The first picture is walking into family room (which is open to the breakfast nook) and the second one is from the breakfast nook.

Here it is now… walking into the room from the front of the house (you can see the edge of our kitchen island.)  I love the drapes (Cameron Cotton drape from Pottery Barn) – I will be so sad if we have to leave these here when we move out of this house.

Since I took this picture below, I’ve changed the mantle a bit, so I posted another picture below that of what the mantle looks like now…

The last picture is a little dark, and you’ll have to excuse College GameDay on the TV (we are big college football fans in this house, and I couldn’t ask Matt to miss any of it just so I could take a picture!)

So that’s our family room (sidenote: do you call it your family room or living room?) – thanks for looking!

Speaking of wardrobe updates…

Hadley has had a few wardrobe updates as well that she wanted to share.

The swimsuit was a Janie & Jack find for $5.99!  They only had it in 3-6 month size, but unless she’s super chunky, that will hopefully last us through July.  The other 3 pieces were also Janie & Jack and gifts from Matt’s parents.

I have seen this onesie set a couple times and debated buying it, and this past weekend, when my mom and I were out shopping she picked up the same one and got it (and the outfits to follow) all for Hadley.

Love the little ruffle bottoms! 121-333_Default

Aunt Katie gave us this last weekend too – thanks!  128-579_DefaultAnd what is probably my favorite outfit so far… (too bad it’s 12 mos. so I have to wait a whole year before putting her in it)!235-504_Default 236-102_Default

21 Weeks

How Far Along: 21 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 13 pounds (!! – insert shocked, embarrassed face here) I can’t believe I just wrote that for all the world to see.

Maternity Clothes: Most of what I wear now is maternity, mainly because it’s SO comfortable!  I layer some of my regular shirts that I don’t mind stretching with maternity camis, and I still have one pair of jeans left that I can fit into – granted it’s a “loose-fit, wide leg trouser jean” but still!

Best Moment this week: Actually seeing Hadley kick (or punch?) from the outside.  I could tell the kicks were a little bigger than most so I looked down at my belly, and sure enough, it looked like something was poking me from the inside.

Gender: GIRL!

Movement: She’s been pretty active lately, although it comes and goes and is still mainly at night before bed.  There have been two days recently when it has felt like she was doing karate in there all day long.  The kicks feel like muscle twitches, to me, inside of my stomach.  Matt has been able to feel them now too, which is exciting.

Food Craving: Nothing really unique here anymore… my cravings come and go just like they did before I was pregnant.  Aside from McDonald’s chicken nuggets (ugh – it makes me GAG just typing that) there isn’t really anything that is just repulsive to me anymore.

What I miss: The ability to workout without getting extremely winded (wait – could I ever do that?)

Sleep: I have to sleep in my “pillow nest” as Matt likes to call it.  Hadley has found my sciatic nerve too, so I have needed those extra pillows even more.

What I am looking forward to: Our next ultrasound at 28 weeks; although I am also probably the most anxious about this moment as well as it will tell us if the cyst on her brain and the fluid on her kidney have gone away.  Either way, I can’t wait to see her precious face again on that screen.

Belly Button: In – although it is definitely wider than it has ever been.

Symptoms: The sciatic nerve pain is the newest development here; hoping that as she gets bigger she’ll find a different spot to hang out!

And the latest belly pic:
