Just a quick post to share the obligatory first day/last day comparison photos!  Can’t believe we have another year of preschool under our belts!

Hadley’s Big Girl Room

Yet another “unfinished” room in our house is Hadley’s big girl room.  But I figured it was finished enough to at least update y’all with new pictures!

I searched high and low for some before pictures of her room but I could only find pictures from our old house and this one…

REALLY good picture there, huh?  At least you can kind of see the wall color?  The only thing Hadley said she wanted for her new big girl room was BLUE walls (light blue specifically) – which she says is her favorite color.  So, we gave her blue walls!  Anyway, here is her big girl room today!

The wall color is Sherwin Williams Rainwashed – it took a few trips to get the color I wanted.  Blue paint colors are tough! But I really love this one and think it will grow with her really well!

Spring Photos (and outtakes)

Last week I had some photos taken of the girls.  Dana Menendez and I met 3 years ago when we both took our oldest girls to a class at The Little Gym.  Hadley I stopped going once she moved up in the classes because the new class times didn’t fit with our schedule, but Dana and I have kept in touch thanks to facebook.  It’s fun to see how much our girls have grown since then!  Long story short, Dana is a photographer and took some gorgeous photos of the girls that I wanted to share!

Unfortunately, Harper decided she was not in the mood for pictures and gave us both a run for our money while we were out there.  Between teething and just generally being 15 months old, she was quite a handful!

Case in point.

And a few more of my favorites… It was absolutely impossible to get a good picture of both girls; we have two stubborn-minded, strong-willed girls, but I’m just loving how the pictures came out, despite the outtakes! :)

If you are in the DFW area, send Dana an email – you won’t regret it!  If our pictures turned out this good with the day we were having, I can’t imagine how much harder it would be to choose if my girls had actually been cooperative!

Hadley’s Spring Program

Last night we had Hadley’s spring program.  Since my parents weren’t able to attend I thought I’d get some pictures up for them to see.  Hadley did a great job singing her song and doing their little “square dance” around a hula hoop. :)
The waiting…
Singing their “Let’s Go Riding” song (Hadley’s class is the group on the right; she’s in the first row, all the way to the left)
Hadley’s in the very back on the right; about to do their hula hoop “square dance”

And a quick video of their hula hoop dance -

Posing with her flower picture after the show.
Taking a picture with her friend Russell after the show :)

Come on in! Kitchen & Dining Room

Trying to get back into the swing of things with blogging again and I thought I’d link up with Momfessionals today for part of her home tour!  Our kitchen and dining room still have some lengthy to-do lists (paint kitchen cabinets WHITE, add hardware, finish valances, update light fixtures, add pendants, repaint doors, new rugs…whew, it’s exhausting just typing all that out) but here they are anyway!
This first picture was taken forever ago (pre-Harper – hence the only 3 stockings on the fireplace)
Here’s one of the unfinished valances – I have the fabric, just not the time!
I love the space in our kitchen and my giant island, but I am more than ready to paint these cabinets white (and ideally finish out our hardwood floors in here, too!).  The door you see above on the left leads into our dining room (which from the old picture above you can see used to be red)…
We really only use this room if we have company – not to be formal, but just because we can seat up to 8 comfortably at this table (more if we’re really friendly ;)) and we don’t have that space in the breakfast nook.
That’s all! Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Five on Friday

Linking up with Five on Friday today! It’s been awhile, but I’m trying to get back in the groove!

Without further adieu…
{1} May is CRAZY.  It’s only May 2nd and I already feel behind this month.  I don’t feel like this month is always this crazy for us (the way October is always a crazy month) but this year is definitely different.  Between doctor appointments, golf tournaments (ahem MATT), Mother’s Day, a preschool program, field day at school, end of school party, my sister’s baby shower (that I’m co-hosting, in another city), and then leaving for CALIFORNIA sans kiddos at the end of the month I feel like I’m constantly running around!
{2} Speaking of our trip to San Diego – one of the things I am most looking forward to is (hopefully) being able to read!  I haven’t made much time for reading lately and can’t wait to catch up on some new books!  I really want to read Bridge to Haven – Francine Rivers’ new book.  Her book, Redeeming Love, is hands down my favorite book ever, and I have loved pretty much everything else of hers I’ve read so I can’t wait to read this one!  I’m also hoping to finally read Melanie Shankle’s books – she is absolutely HILARIOUS!

{3} We’ve been car shopping for Matt – not nearly as fun when you’re not the primary driver. ;) He wants to keep driving a car because of his commute (25mi each way) but we’re not 100% sold on what to buy.  So far we’ve only looked at the new Accords and we plan to still test drive Acuras.  Any recommendations?
{4} I have a few house updates I’ve been wanting to post but each room has one or two things left that I still want to do so I haven’t taken pictures.  I need to at least take some progress pictures.  We’ve done a lot of painting (read: hired someone to paint for us) over the last 6 months or so…
For example – the dining room before: (with the seller’s stuff)
And during (we still need to have the shutters painted and ideally I’d like to have the ceiling painted as well, but Matt isn’t sold on that.) I promise to get my big camera out and take some better photos of what it looks like now!
And a poor quality iphone pic of the semi-current state:
{5} If you follow me on instagram you may have seen this already, but we had our first (I’m sure of many over the next 15ish years) warning about lice at school.  Ewwwwwww.  So far it looks like we’re in the clear…I’m crossing my fingers it stays that way!
That’s all I’ve got for today! Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!  I am off to enjoy FINALLY having Matt home after his traveling Tues-Friday this week for work!
