San Diego Trip Days 1 and 2

The last week of May, Matt and I were able to take a trip to San Diego just the two of us!  Last year, Matt won an award at work that is given to the top 1% of employees based on performance.  Part of that award is an all expenses paid trip (with a couple hundred of your closest friends aka: other employees from all over the world who also won the award and their guests).  Well, the trip last year was occurring when Harper was about 3 months old; needless to say (I hope), a week away from a 3 month old (especially when you’re nursing) is just not feasible.  Thankfully, Matt was able to defer a year so we were able to take the trip this year instead.  I am so glad we did – Harper was old enough that I didn’t worry as much, so I was able to enjoy myself – and the trip was to San Diego this year, staying at the Hotel Del Coronado!  We were there Tuesday through Saturday and had excursions each day, along with cocktail hours and dinner each night (all provided by Matt’s work!).  Everything was truly top notch – from the moment we got off the shuttle from the airport we were offered Arnold Palmers or lemonade in mason jar glasses and fresh (still warm!) coconut macaroons…

We were already missing the girls, but the view from our room made it up for it just a tad… Winking smile

Our first night there we had a welcome dinner on the beach and some downtime to just explore the hotel grounds.  It is such a gorgeous hotel – built in 1880 – so much history!

Unfortunately, Hadley left me with a little parting gift in the form of a virus, so I was running a fever our first night and had to call it a night pretty early.  Thankfully, our second day there, I had nothing planned until a massage at 1p so I was able to sleep it off while Matt golfed Torrey Pines.

Our second night (Wednesday) was the awards dinner at the resort.  The company brought in their own traveling Blow Dry Bar and set it up just like the regular salon inside the hotel.  I had an appointment there after my massage and it was so nice to have my hair done for the dinner rather than having to get ready myself!  :)

The company had photographers at each event – our photo at the awards dinner felt like prom night ;)

On our third day we went to the San Diego Zoo and I have so many more pictures I think I’ll have to save the rest for another post!

Hadley’s Big Girl Room

Yet another “unfinished” room in our house is Hadley’s big girl room.  But I figured it was finished enough to at least update y’all with new pictures!

I searched high and low for some before pictures of her room but I could only find pictures from our old house and this one…

REALLY good picture there, huh?  At least you can kind of see the wall color?  The only thing Hadley said she wanted for her new big girl room was BLUE walls (light blue specifically) – which she says is her favorite color.  So, we gave her blue walls!  Anyway, here is her big girl room today!

The wall color is Sherwin Williams Rainwashed – it took a few trips to get the color I wanted.  Blue paint colors are tough! But I really love this one and think it will grow with her really well!

Spring Photos (and outtakes)

Last week I had some photos taken of the girls.  Dana Menendez and I met 3 years ago when we both took our oldest girls to a class at The Little Gym.  Hadley I stopped going once she moved up in the classes because the new class times didn’t fit with our schedule, but Dana and I have kept in touch thanks to facebook.  It’s fun to see how much our girls have grown since then!  Long story short, Dana is a photographer and took some gorgeous photos of the girls that I wanted to share!

Unfortunately, Harper decided she was not in the mood for pictures and gave us both a run for our money while we were out there.  Between teething and just generally being 15 months old, she was quite a handful!

Case in point.

COLEMAN-29

And a few more of my favorites… It was absolutely impossible to get a good picture of both girls; we have two stubborn-minded, strong-willed girls, but I’m just loving how the pictures came out, despite the outtakes! :)

If you are in the DFW area, send Dana an email – you won’t regret it!  If our pictures turned out this good with the day we were having, I can’t imagine how much harder it would be to choose if my girls had actually been cooperative!

Hadley’s Spring Program

Last night we had Hadley’s spring program.  Since my parents weren’t able to attend I thought I’d get some pictures up for them to see.  Hadley did a great job singing her song and doing their little “square dance” around a hula hoop. :)
The waiting…

Come on in! Kitchen & Dining Room

Trying to get back into the swing of things with blogging again and I thought I’d link up with Momfessionals today for part of her home tour!  Our kitchen and dining room still have some lengthy to-do lists (paint kitchen cabinets WHITE, add hardware, finish valances, update light fixtures, add pendants, repaint doors, new rugs…whew, it’s exhausting just typing all that out) but here they are anyway!
This first picture was taken forever ago (pre-Harper – hence the only 3 stockings on the fireplace)

Here’s one of the unfinished valances – I have the fabric, just not the time!

I love the space in our kitchen and my giant island, but I am more than ready to paint these cabinets white (and ideally finish out our hardwood floors in here, too!).  The door you see above on the left leads into our dining room (which from the old picture above you can see used to be red)…
IMG_1545
We really only use this room if we have company – not to be formal, but just because we can seat up to 8 comfortably at this table (more if we’re really friendly ;)) and we don’t have that space in the breakfast nook.

That’s all! Thanks for stopping by!  :)
